Waters Edge - Diptych, Tranquil Acrylics

Description : Waters Edge Diptych by Rosemary Legat - Acrylic paint & acrylic ink on watercolour paper. This calming, soothing duo was a intuitive experiment in the use of acrylic paint and ink, along with lots of water to create images evocative of a abstract watery scene. My inspiration came from my imagination along with the feeling and flow of applying, pouring, dripping, spraying paint and/or water along with the use of different strength glazes of Southern Ocean Blue paint as the final touch. I felt light and free when I created this duo which I believe is captured in the feeling and look of this diptych. I aimed for two light, bright and minimalistic pieces to look cohesive in their colour, design and mood when hung together. My Waters Edge Diptych would look delightful hung in any space, adding warmth, light and interest. Dimensions: Both are 42cm (W) x 59.5cm (D) My work is organic therefore the dimensions of this duo includes a rough 1 cm border around each which can be left exposed. or covered, during the art collector's framing process. As they both require framing to hang my artwork photos show how this pair could look framed and hung. Please check dimensions as in situ images are for display purposes only and may not be to scale. Both signed on the front.

Rosie L lives in  Melbourne, Victoria, originally hailing from Albury, NSW.  From a young age she always enjoyed and found pleasure in creative endeavours, engaging in artistic opportunities primarily as more of a hobby than a career path.

In recent years having entered retirement and countless Melbourne lockdowns, she found herself in the fortunate position of being able to reconnect with her passion for art.

Rosie L is an active memeber of the Art of Flow Creative Community.  Within this group she has the opportunity to interact with other artistic minds who continuously encourage, inspire and support her to push the boundaries of her own artisic ideas.

As an artist Rosie L has a very eclectic style, although the core of many paintings often have a more whimsical feel.  The flow and style of her work can change dramatically during the creative process.  0ften incorporating many layers. During the progression of her pieces they often lead to spontaneous directrions being taken as she works intuitively, resulting in the final piece revealing itself to her, rather than following a pre-conceived idea. Rosie L's imagination is often the spark to creating and developing a painting.

Through the evolution of her artistic journey, the materials she now uses vary.  Originally, Rosie L just worked with aacrylic inks on canvas.  However, she has since discovered the joy of incorporating a greater variety of materials and has begun to produce works intergrating mixed media, acrylic paint, ink, soft pastels, oil sticks and collage and a array of surfaces.

When questioned about the personal inspiration that lies behind her art, the answer was quite simple, it brings her joy, it makes her smile, it makes her happy.  Rosie L is endlessly excited to keep creating.  Selling numerous pieces and being able to share this joy has created a continuous drive that keeps her motivation permanently heightened and makes it impossible for Rosie L to envisage a future for herself that doesn't include creating and sharing her art.
