Three Little Hoots

Description : Three Little Hoots by Rosemary Legat - Acrylic paint and artist painted collage papers on 300gsm mixed media paper. I participated in the Spirit of Leaves Eucalyptus workshop held by Art of Flow in partnership with Eucalypt Australia who support the conversation, education and research of the iconic Australian eucalypt (gum) tree. This year we were encouraged to add a bird to our creations as a reminder that eucalypt trees are essential to native birds, providing nectar, seeds and shelter. It is a delightful experience to participate creatively along with 100's of others from within Australia, along with many from all around the world. Using a few twigs of eucalypt branches (I had gathered from a park in our area) for inspiration I created the foliage over my freshly created layered intuitive base. Thoughts of adding owlet's created out of collage slowly developed in my mind. Roughly chalked in three owl silhouettes followed by slowly building up countless layers of torn & cut collage pieces (created from my stash of my painted collage papers) until they developed into three different but chohisive siblings. Three Little Hoots is a very textured and has a rustic look due to its countless unique layers softened by its whimsical vibe. This artwork is finished off with a touch of fixative spray and varnish for protection. Initialled in the bottom lefthand corner. Requires framing to hang.
