Rainbows

Description : Rainbows by Rosemary Legat - Acrylic paint, acrylic ink pen and collage on thick sided wood board. I created a body of work on cradled wood panels to be part of my art exhibition at the hairdressers I go to in Preston, Melbourne (Raw Edge & Beauty). Rainbows was one of those pieces and like the other three figurative artworks I created at the time was inspired by a zoom life drawing session I previously participated in. I used the same model's pose as inspiration for the four individual dynamic figurative artworks included in my display. Each of the four figurative pieces are similar to each other but each has its own personality. Each piece is unique and beautiful in its own way. Rainbows is a vibrant layered tapestry of swirling patterns, vibrant colours and rainbow phrases all helping to create a dynamic visual display. Varnished for protection and sides painted white. Please double check dimensions as in situ images are for display purposes only and may not be to scale. Note that Rainbows is ready to hang however as she is created on thick sided wood panel (4.5cm) you have also have the option of displaying her on a shelf or other flat surface.

Rosemary’s artistic journey is a delightful adventure that showcases the power of creativity. From a young age, she found joy in artistic pursuits, but it wasn’t until her retirement, amid the quiet of countless covid lockdowns, that she truly reconnected with her passion for art.

With an eclectic style that celebrates whimsy, Rosemary’s paintings are a vibrant reflection of her playful spirit. Rather than sticking to a rigid plan, she lets her creativity flow, allowing each piece to reveal itself organically. As she layers colors and textures, her work takes on a life of its own, resulting in captivating pieces that invite viewers into her imaginative world.
Originally working solely with acrylics on canvas, Rosemary has since embraced an exciting variety of materials. Now, her mixed media artworks bring together paint, ink, soft pastels, oil sticks, and collage, transforming her creations into multidimensional expressions of her vision.
At the heart of Rosemary’s art is a simple yet powerful motivation: it makes her happy! The joy she feels while painting shines through in every piece she creates, and sharing that joy with others has ignited her passion even further. With numerous pieces sold and a growing audience, Rosemary is driven to continue creating and sharing her artwork, ensuring that her vibrant imagination remains a central part of her life for years to come.
