Summary

With an avid interest in visiting Art Galleries and along with the encouragement of my father, I commenced painting at an early age.  I would consider myself primarily self taught, with attendance to workshops and local art classes building on my techniques and skills in representing that which I perceive.

Most of my paintings are of the land or the sea genre usually within the locality of where I live.  Sketching and photos of the subjects are done on location and the painting process is carried out at my studio.  I look at ordinary everyday things and events for my subject material.  It maybe a twisted tree or a weathered craggy rock that I find interesting against an exciting sky.  I also look for the placement of light, time of day, mood and the dramatic forms in the sea and landscape to complete an interesting and well balanced painting.
