Osaka Sun

Description : This painting is from a series entitled “Musical Manuscripts” which is a collection of paintings inspired by music. Osaka Sun is inspired by the Coldplay song Lovers in Japan. To me this song illustrates love, resilience and the excitement and hope of a better future. This painting is made from acrylic paint on stretched canvas with original vintage silk Kimono fabric used as a collage element. I have an interest in Kimonos which are a work of art in themselves often with intricate stitching, special dyeing and hand painting. I used this fabric to capture the exotic, oriental feel of the song. I included circular shapes to symbolise love as they represent an eternal union with no beginning and no end. Parts of the song’s musical score have also been used as a collage element. This painting is acrylic, gloss medium and collage on stretched canvas, ready to hand with a wire across the back. It is signed on the front and back. It comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. It is recorded in the National Registry of Australian Art and Artists, registration number provided.
