Artist Bio - Lohit Latheesh
I am Lohit Latheesh, a 14-year-old artist currently studying Grade 10 at Gleneagles Secondary College.
My love for art sparked when I was just 3 years old. Back then, my world was filled with dinosaurs and animals, and I couldn’t resist drawing them every chance I got.
What started as a simple fascination quickly grew into something much deeper passion that has stayed with me ever since.
In 2015, something incredible happened. My artwork was recognized in the Cultural Diversity Week primary school art competition, where I received an award from Mr. Robin Scott (then Minister for Multicultural Affairs of Victoria) in the Prep to Grade 1 category.
That was the moment I realized that art wasn’t just a hobby for me; it was something I wanted to explore further. By the time I was 9, I found myself drawn to more realistic styles, always eager to push my boundaries and try new things. That’s when I discovered pastel pencils a game changer in my artistic journey. With these, I could bring my drawings to life, adding layers of detail and depth that made them feel real. My first pastel pencil attempt at the age of 9 Pastel pencils have become my go-to tools, and I love using them to capture the beauty and intricacy of animals, a theme that has always fascinated me. Even though I haven’t had any formal art training, I’ve spent years learning, practicing, and perfecting my skills on my own. One of my proudest moments came recently when I won first place in the Kilmore Art Expo youth painting competition for the 10-14 age group. That achievement has only fuelled my desire to keep growing as an artist. I’m excited about what the future holds and can’t wait to share more of my work and see where this artistic journey takes me next
