Artist Bio - Lee MartinI have enjoyed working around art for most of my life. I grew in a home where my mother taught painting. The house was often full of students working on their still-lifes, drinking coffee and 'talking tone'. I was fascinated. I completed my Bachelor of Education in Visual Arts at Melbourne University. Drawing, Painting and Life-Drawing were my practical areas of interest. I enjoyed wandering the city completing architectural illustrations and streetscapes, rarely travelling anywhere without my sketchbook. My primary passion has always been tonal realism, whether it be landscape, still-life or portraiture. I am drawn to pastels and oil paints due to their wonderful textural possibilities. I find the different demands of these media both challenging and rewarding. On retiring from work I have been able to devote more of my time toward my art. I paint from life and seek to achieve work that is accurate in tone, colour and proportion. The rest can take care of itself. |

Many thanks for a wonderful Art Show. My wife and I attended on Saturday afternoon and were most impressed.
Not only were the entries outstanding, the layout and the lighting indicated that much thought had been put into the presentation.
No doubt much work had been done behind the scenes to make it such a success.
