Joanne Mahon (Ting) was born in Kuching, Sarawak, Borneo into a family of pragmatists. Doodling all day and day dreaming rather than doing homework was rather frowned upon. However an early (as a 10 year old) home exhibition of oil pastel family portraiture along the stairwell gallery managed to crack some acknowledgement.
She went to boarding school in Melbourne at 16 and to further studies at the University of Melbourne. Part time study at RMIT Bachelor of Fine Arts (painting) and at the Victorian Artists Society have honed her artistic skills and sharpened clarity of vision.
There is a vibrancy of colour and movement in her artwork, mostly florals, still life and occasionally landscapes - in watercolour and acrylics. The discovery of digital art using #inspireproapp has added another dimension of luminosity to her artwork. Her artworks have been exhibited and sold at the Linden Art Gallery Postcard exhibition and at the Victorian Artists Society.
We had pretty good show considering it was run as a COVID Safe Event with timed 2 hour sessions and ticketed. We achieved Sales above 20% grossing $104k (including Artist in Residence) which was our highest result ever and yielding an averaging selling price point of $537.
