Artist Bio - Jan NeilSine the beginning of my career as a professional artist I has completed many private and public commissions both in Australia and overseas. I have always experimented with technique and materials. Collage has been a favourite incorporating timber, metal and found objects. The Silk Screen process was used for a number of years. As the size of the screens became larger, physical management became impossible. At this stage I started painting on stretched canvas. A move to Kingston, Tasmania in 2019, resulted in a focussed approach on Abstracts, Land & Seascapes. The timbered areas of Kingston, high cliffs and beaches, provided wonderful inspiration. Since returning to Victoria recently I has focussed on landscapes, recalling the Kingston material, as well as Victoria and my local area along the Merri creek. The current focus is to produce a cohesive group of paintings, through energetic brush work, texture and colour. The aim is to visually transfer feeling and emotion to the viewer, to have them feel they are experiencing the painting and the location. To go on a journey with the canvas as I do when painting. I start with an intension, frequently it seems the canvas has it's own mind about the direction in which we travel and through progressive thought we arrive at the destination, completion. |

Have been with gallery247 for 6 years, both free and now paid. Wonderful on line platform for artists which has made my work easy to find and i don't need to worry about setting up my own website; they even forwarded a message from a community college i volunteered for a few years ago, for an art tutor.

I have recently become a member of Gallery 247 as an artist, and am so impressed. Communication was quick and very personable. The website seems very user friendly. With the couple of questions I emailed I was looked after with a phone call and very kindly and professionally looked after. Highly recommend.
