Artist Bio - Glenda Cornell
Basically a self taught artist starting my career as an artist by drawing caricatures for workmates at the Kyabram hospital.Around 1983
I began exhibiting my work in local art shows .This led to good sales and commissions. Corporate and private commissions are in many countries around the world, including U.S.A. England, Scotland, New Zealand, holland Canada and Irland. Over the years I have been involved in many joint Exhibitions in Melbourne, Daylesford, Nagambie, Shepparton, Echuca. Solo Exhibitions in Shepparton and Nagambie.
I paint in all mediums and styles and enjoy experimentation. My subject matter is also varioud from wildlife to portraits and everything in-between as well as sculpture in clay and concete.
I do work on commission, including portraits and garden sculpture.
I am also experinced in producing public art works for local shires and schools as well as Community Arts projects .
I have compleated 8 murals in the local area.
One of my major commissions " River Red Gum Walk" a public sculpture in Echuca.
I played a major role in the origanal Moving Art cows in Shepparton (painted cows)
I have won over 30 major awards in country victoria and southern N.S.W
I have compleated a Diploma of Visual Arts majoring in Painting and Sculpture
I have worked as a sesional teacher in small schools in the area teaching art
I have had my own small arts Business Cckatoo Island Art retreat and Art Supplies running classes and workshops . I have my own Gallery in the heart of the Historical Port of Echuca called Glenda Cornell's Whistle Stop Studio Gallery open 5 days a week closed Tuesday and Wednesday
I belive I am a passionate artist I just love to be creative.
