Let Colour Light The Way (framed)

Description : Splashes of red, coral, blue and green richly adorn this painting depicting Australian native flowers and gum leaves; a carefree display of highly-textured professional oil paint applied to pure linen canvas to create a painting which is bound to put a smile on your face.

This still life painting of flowers in a simple prussian blue cup is inspired by the beautiful Australian native flora, trees, and plants which adorn our backyards, beaches, and park lands.

It has been painted with a limited palette, focusing on teal, red, green, and silver hues, and applied thickly to provide some texture against the pure linen background. There is some negative space in the pure linen so that the natural weave forms part of the overall artwork. The paint and linen are neither flat nor glossy; more of a satin finish, and the sides are sealed but unpainted.

I am a prolific artist working full time from my studio in central Victoria, with much of my art being held in private collections around Australia, as well as exhibiting in local galleries and at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne.

All of my paintings are packed with the greatest care.

I was born into a highly creative family where live music, book signings and art exhibitions seemed to be a normal part of a child’s everyday life and upbringing. It was only natural that I eventually pick up the palette knife and put pigment to canvas. Today, I live entirely off-grid in a quirky house and garden, with my hubby and two dogs, on rambling acreage of bush, dust and stone. My days are spent at my art studio among gum trees, kookaburras, wallabies, and koalas (and the odd snake!).

You will rarely see me paint a landscape in the traditional sense. Instead, I prefer to get up close and personal with my subject, study its form and colour, its character and its flaws, and translate this impression into something new: cropped, colourful, suggestive, and alive.

So please, sit back, browse through my portfolio, and maybe one of my paintings will find its new home.
