Melbourne Through The Mist (triptych)

Description : MELBOURNE THROUGH THE MIST is a triptych of paintings inspired by birds-eye views seen from the Sky Deck at Eureka Tower. The expansive set of paintings depicts dramatic scenes that unfolded on a stormy day as the city became shrouded by storm clouds and thick fog. The triptych is a tribute in paint to the constantly evolving and changing appearance of this city. The juxtaposition of man-made structures and organic forms created by nature is of particular interest in these works. The artwork is made up of three adjoining, self-contained panels that are designed to hang together as one continuous panorama that measures 150cm (H) x 270 cm (W), or as three individual images each measuring 150cm (H) x 90cm (W). The painted image area continues around the sides of each panel, so the artwork does not require framing. The canvases are wired ready to hang. NB. Each of the 90cm wide x 150cm high panels may be displayed individually, or as a set either joined together or hung with some spacing allowed between the three canvases.

In the 1970’s I studied painting, photography and ceramics at Monash University (Monash campus), graduating in Fine Art & Design, followed by a Diploma of Education from Melbourne University.  Between travels in Europe, Japan and the US through the 1980's and '90's I worked in retail management while creating much of the artwork and merchandise for sale at the family's art and craft gallery in Brighton. In 1998 I went on to establish Articall Art & Framing Gallery in New Street Brighton. My roles as owner/operator of Articall from 1998 to 2014 encompassed business management, art consultancy, picture framing, interior decorating, and conducting art classes for groups of all ages & experience. In 2014, after 16 years of operating from a retail space in Brighton, Articall had transitioned to trade solely as an On-line Gallery at www.articall.com.auThis change was to enable me to focus more on developing my own art practice, in addition to conducting weekly art workshops. Themes explored in my paintings range from urban landscapes to pure abstraction.
