Artist Bio - Albert RileyBorn Yea, Victoria, 1935 Former Bricklayer, Naval Aviator, Commercial Helicopter Pilot and Computer Analyst/Programmer. Member of Peninsula Art Society (Frankston) and Oak Hill Gallery (Mornington). In the 1950s, as a teenager at Sorrento, did a lot of drawing in the evenings, and made posters for local organisations including the Sea Scouts, Sailing Club and Fire Brigade. Took up art again after retiring at 80 from competitive sailing. Initially used only pastel, but a year or so ago began using oils, and has receently begun experimenting with coloured pencils. Has attended classes with several tutors at Peninsula Art Society, mainly Nic Kirkman, but with oils and coloured pencils is basically self-taught. Have been with gallery247 for 6 years, both free and now paid. Wonderful on line platform for artists which has made my work easy to find and i don't need to worry about setting up my own website; they even forwarded a message from a community college i volunteered for a few years ago, for an art tutor.
